I signed up with this makeup artist (which happens to be MH's neighbors in KL )last month without going though a trial makeup because I thought I don’t have chance to do so. Thanks to the impromptu trip back KL last weekend, by sneer chance I had the trial makeup and it was
FREAKING

UGLY!!! The glittering side (right) is the night makeup for dinner and the left side is for the day makeup. The photos above were taken after more than 1 hour of makeup (she was just damn slow!!!). I walked back to MH’s house, calmed myself down enough to take these photos, debugged on it and armed with some makeup photos which I tore down from magazine; I went back to the makeup artist’s house. I explained that the left eyebrow was too archy & too long, the eye colors were too widely spread, etc, etc. She offered to re-do the day makeup so I asked for a different eye color this time. After another eternity, the makeup came out to be equally bad! Subsequently, I asked her to reduce the thickness of the coloring; confine it to the lower eyelid only but she reasoned that it will be less obvious once I put on the fake eyelashes. Eventually we tried that on and when I saw it I was just totally speechless. It was ah kua + monster + clown all in one!!! I didn’t snap any photo here. Don’t want you all to get nightmare after seeing it like what I had.
I’m having cold feet already!!!Gals, please help me.
Question 1: What’s wrong with the makeup?
Question 2: Should I buy her reasoning that the makeup might looks thick in real, but will be very mild under the ballroom light & camera flash? Should I really risk it???
Question 3: If it turned out equally bad on the wedding day itself, should I
(a)Run away
(b)Go wash out the entire makeup and make an entrance sans makeup
(c)Let ppl see the ugliest me in my entire life :..( :..( :..(
Question 4: Did I over react? Is the makeup fine after all?
Question 5: I’m planning to buy the eye colors, lipsticks, etc myself. Hers is just way too old fashioned. Any shop/brand/color to recommend?
Question 6: Should I insist on no fake eyelashes and liquid eyeliner? Both if done correctly, will look very very nice but I really doubt she can do it right. It's a huge risk as it will potentially make me look like ah kua if done wrongly.
Question 7: Should I insist on natural/nude makeup? Will I look really pale under harsh lighting?
Btw, if you see this ugly monster when you're attending our wedding dinner, don't worry, you're at the correct dinner. :p
